Low price could be a problem in several ways. (1) Low price can be part of a bait and switch. (2) Low price may not cover all the cleaning steps or meet your objectives. (3) Low price can be due to cheap equipment and/or lack of knowledge on carpet cleaning practices.
Yes, your carpet cleaner needs first-rate equipment. However, they also need the skills to use the equipment. The best way to know that they are properly trained is to make sure they are certified by the IICRC. Before you choose a cleaner ask to see written proof of their certification.
Any carpet cleaner can say anything about his past jobs. And, sadly, some of what they say may not be true. Make sure you ask for references or read comments from current customers.
Every carpet cleaning company should be fully accountable for their work.
